I wanted to get this in before the challenge closes! I loved the sketch this week, this is for:
The Paper Players #774- Sketch
I used some backgrounds I had in my stash - the purple one was created with Hocus Pocus Mica Spray Stain and the black was Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink. I used the ink smooshing technique with both of them. I love ink smooshing - I was intimidated by it when I first started, but I've grown to love it and feel confident creating layers and texture. For example, this is one layer on the left, and then after several layers of smooshing and drying with my heat tool on the right:
Anyway, I used a sentiment from the Good Vibes Sentiment set at Stamping Bella and a large gemstone die cut from Scraps and Ink Crafts Etsy shop as the focal point. Peace.

Oh my gosh, Jenn! What a beautiful purple panel you have created! I have never tried the ink smooshing technique, but you have inspired me to give it a try! I'm a crystal person, so I LOVE the sentiment, especially paired with the gemstone die cut. Thank you for playing with The Paper Players this week!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Ann! I'm so happy to hear that you've been inspired to give it a try - it's so much fun! Make sure you lose lots of water between layers - either directly on the paper or on the puddle of ink on your mat! :) Dry with your heat tool and keep layering until you're happy with the results! I'd love to see what you come up with!
DeleteJenn, I love that purple watercolored panel. The beautiful gem just pops! So happy you joined my sketch challenge at The Paper Players this week!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! :)
DeleteJenn, your panels turned out fantastic and I'm sure the sparkle from the Mica Spray stain looks gorgeous! It's great that you found a gem die cut to go with that fun sentiment! My husband is a big crystal person and we have them hanging in three of our living room windows and it's great when there are rainbows dancing across all the walls.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I digress! Your card is gorgeous and I'm so glad you shared with us this week at the Paper Players!
Thank you! That's awesome - my house is FULL of crystals... my husband took me to Hiddenite, North Carolina a couple years ago and we dug for emeralds! Didn't find any, but I did find a pretty amethyst and LOTS of quartz and other stuff! :)
