I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! We sure did - we cooked a prime rib dinner for my daughter Cass & her boyfriend Mikey, which turned out perfect. Then we visited Jeremy's family, and ended the evening by hanging out with Cass at Mikey's sister Katie's house... and Katie just happens to have the world's most adorable 4-month-old baby girl, Melrose. :) So we had a great time. Christmas Day we had a little party at our house and I made buffalo chicken macaroni & cheese, Swedish meatballs (which I must say came out better than any others I've ever made in my life!), lots of dips and appetizers and desserts... let's just say no one is going hungry around here this weekend. And I took yesterday off, so I ended up with a 5-day weekend. So nice.
So here is a Christmas card I'd like to enter into a few challenges:
I'm stepping down as DT coordinator, but staying on the team. Megan is going to take the month of January off and then she should be back with some new challenges, so check back in February. Here's my card:
I would like to link this up to the following challenges:
I used Unicorn Girls Heart, printed on DP and colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits with some Stickles on her horn & the hanging heart. Die-cut numbers are from My Favorite Things. Paper is from Authentique. Peace.
Happy Friday! :) I love Fridays - usually my husband and I go out to dinner, but tonight we're getting take-out and spending the evening cooking & baking for our family Christmas party at my sister's house tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to it!
Hello there! I feel like I never blog anymore, and I'm starting to miss it. It's such a different world working full-time, but I do enjoy it. And of course when I hurt my hand, it really set me back with crafting. It's come a long way, but I still can't bend it at the middle joint. I have to continue massaging the scar and I go back to the surgeon in February. He said we could talk about doing another surgery to remove some of the scar tissue but I don't think I'm going to agree to another surgery. The only things I cannot do are light a lighter, snap my fingers, and do the "bridge" when you shuffle a deck of cards. LOL I don't think those things justify another surgery and possible complications, etc. I'm just so thankful to be able to dress myself, start my car, peel & cut up vegetables... I'm very appreciative of things I never even gave a second thought to before. Life is like that, isn't it? Well I certainly think about it now!
Anyway, I'm playing catch-up today and posting some of this week's creations. We had a new challenge for you on Wednesday at:
I used Broken Doll from The Stamping Chef, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits. I combined some scraps of paper from different MME pads for the background and added a ribbon tag from my scraps. Sentiment is from TLC. Peace.
We've got a color challenge going on our Facebook page this month - you can do Red & Green or Blues & Silvers, come check it out here. I used one of our new images called Sweet Amber Mistletoe and you can find her here.
I used Hypno Eye Monster Framed (Dilly Beans), colored with Prismacolor markers & Stickles. Papers are from doodlebug designs inc. - sticker sentiment is from SRM Stickers. Skeleton key charm is from my stash. Peace.
We're being sponsored by Aurora Wings this week, and here is my creation:
I was just given the go-ahead from my occupational therapist to get back to crafting so I kept the coloring to a minimum. LOL I really like the effect though. I sponged the edges with black ink and added a sticker sentiment from SRM Stickers. Peace.
I printed my image on DP twice, paper-piecing his hat. I "colored" with Stickles and added lots of embellishments from Authentique that coordinated with my DP. Spider is a die-cut from My Favorite Things. Peace.
Good morning! OK so I'm gonna warn you right away that the picture of my hand is kind of gross. So if you have a weak tummy, just don't look any further past the pic of the cute witch card. You've been warned. LOL
OK so first I have a card using our awesome new image called Witchy Zen from Just Some Lines:
I'd like to enter my cute witch into the following challenges:
I colored her with PrismaColor pencils & mineral spirits and used my spider & web dies from My Favorite Things. Sentiment stickers are from Tim Holtz.
So I have been MIA - about 10 days ago, I was home alone one morning and got up at 6 as usual. Fed the cats and went to make coffee in my old fashioned stove-top percolator (see post here). As I put the pot on the counter, a candle fell and knocked the pot over. On instinct, I tried to grab the pot but it had already broken. When I looked down, I just saw a hole in my hand. I started to freak out but pulled it together quickly. LOL When I clenched my hand, it started bleeding and I couldn't bandage it because it was my right hand. So I called 911 and the wonderful EMT's came & bandaged me up so I could drive myself to the ER. I ended up having a severed tendon & a severed pulley, and I had surgery 3 days later (last Friday) to repair them. The funny thing is that I had no pain until the surgery. I spent the weekend in a fog and today, one week, later, I'm just starting to feel like a human being again. Jeremy was scheduled to fly back to MA the day after I cut myself, so he's literally been taking care of me for over a week. Anyone who knows me knows it's really hard for me to let someone else be the caregiver... I am the caregiver! But I had no choice and I just accepted it and appreciate it so very much. It's taking me a long time to type this but I miss blogging so much. And coloring... I cannot wait to be able to color again. Button my pants. Wash my own hair. Cut up my food... it really is the little things!!! OK so here is a pic of my hand after surgery -
It's going to take another 4-5 weeks to heal, so I have to go easy and not push it too much so I don't rupture the repairs that were made. I am going back to work on Monday and they are willing to work with me as far as letting me go at my own pace and only do what I can do. Hope you all have a great weekend. Peace.
I colored her with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits. I found this cute milk jug brad in my stash - papers are from Authentique. Sentiment is from SRM Stickers, ribbon & button are from my stash. Peace.
Good morning! I have not had much crafty time lately, but I managed to get a couple of things done yesterday and I have a full lazy day of coloring planned today. :) Today's cards were made using the new images at:
I'm entering this first one into the following challenges:

Our sponsor is Aurora Wings and I printed my seahorse image on DP, then accented it with lots of Stickles. Papers are from Authentique and the "believe" sticker is from Tim Holtz. Anchor charm is from my stash and I tied it on with a little piece of twine. I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
Our sponsor this week is Heather Ellis, and I've used one of her sweet new images to create my simple little ATC. She's colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits. The "Happy" sentiment is a rubber stamp from My Favorite Things. Papers are from MME and the buttons are from my stash. Peace.
OK so I know you're dying to know - I survived my 1st week back to work! :) Although I was exhausted by Friday and wondering how the Hell I did it back when I had small children at home! I started on a good week - Jeremy's in California, Trevor's in Japan, and Cass was in Maine for the week. So it was nice to not have to worry about taking care of anyone else while adjusting to the working world again!
I had bought these little canvas-sized ATC blanks at the craft store and decided to play with them, so I used my acrylic paints to create the background and then dragged the edges through a black ink pad. I stamped the volcano image from the HulaGirl set in black and colored with Prismacolor markers and Stickles The sentiment is a sticker from SRM Stickers. Peace.
Good morning! So excited - I started my new job yesterday! I had Orientation yesterday, so it was a shorter day than normal, which was kind of a nice way to ease back into it! My hours will be 7:30-4, Monday through Friday. It's been 4 years since I've worked full-time and I think I'm ready to get back to it. It will be nice to appreciate weekends again. But my crafty time is going to be seriously cut into - just going to have to improvise and maybe start crafting in the evenings!
Anyway - today I'm also excited to announce that I'm serving as a Guest Design Team member for the next 6 months for:
Happy Friday AND Happy 4th of July! We are celebrating tomorrow by going to the town of Monte Rio's Independence Day celebration, it should be a good time! You can't beat the weather here in northern California, and I'm enjoying my vacation. Today we have a new challenge for you at:
I made a little ATC using one of our mermaid images, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits - I paper-pieced her tail and added a little flower brad from Stampin' Up! The text is part of the paper pad. Peace.
I'm happy to announce that I'm acting as the Bombshell Pin-Up Girl for the month of July! For my challenge theme this month, I chose: Sun, Surf, and Sand
I made a bookmark for those Summer reading books! I stamped my Bombshell girl twice - once on white and once on Designer Paper, and paper-pieced her bathing suit. Papers are from Authentique, I added a little metal flower embellishment to finish it off. I'd like to add my bookmark to the following challenges: The Artistic Stamper: By the Seaside (must use rubber stamp) Crafting Musketeers: Summertime Loves Rubber Stamps: Anything Goes ................................................................................ Next up, today we have a new challenge for you at:
Image is from The Octopode Factory (our sponsor this week at WW) - printed on DP and colored with Prismacolor markers and Stickles. The "Inspire" sentiment is also from TOF and I printed it on coordinating DP and fussy-cut it out. DP is from Authentique. Peace.
