All That Scraps - Buttons

I have really been having a great time making cards these last few months - my teenage daughter sat at my craft table the other day and was looking at my cards.  I can't even tell you how good it felt when she said "Mom - you have gotten really good at this - you've gotten much better in the last year or so!"  My goodness, you would have thought I'd just won an award!  :)  Thank you, Cass, you made my day.

Today's card was made for the:

I used this sweet image called Tulip Trevor from the All That Scraps digi store and colored him with Prismacolors and mineral spirits. Cardstocks & papers (his shirt & shoes are paper-pieced), as well as ribbon, are from Stampin' Up!  Buttons from my stash.  Hope you're all having a great weekend!
Peace.

Paper Sundaes & Tiddly Inks

Happy Friday!  Well, Trev had surgery on his elbow yesterday - he had some kind of "growth" called a lipoma (which is basically fatty tissue) growing on his elbow, and it was starting to bother him because it was so big!  It didn't hurt him, though.  Anyway, he had it removed yesterday and had to have 3 stitches to close it up.  In the meantime, the poor kid also got sick this week - feverish, white bumps on his throat... so he was tested for strep while we were at the doctor's, and he has only been to school one day this week for a couple of hours.  He didn't have strep, but he did have ear infections in both ears!  So he's home again today. I sure hope the sicknesses are done with us for this season!!!

I made this card for the:

TiddlyInks is sponsoring this challenge, so I decided to use a TiddlyInks image "Petite Q".
She is colored with Prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits.  Cardstock and ribbon by SU!  DP from Pressed Petals. Crown and wand brads from my stash.

And.... while I was playing with my Tiddly images, I decided to make a Father's Day card for the:

Tiddly Inks Challenge #41 - Kraft With Me

I used these manly toolbox and hammer images, printed them on SU! Kraft cardstock and colored with Prismacolors and mineral spirits.  I also used Kraft as my base.  DP in Kraft and Ruby Red, brads in gold and Ruby Bed - all by SU! I had a hard time coming up with the layout and stuff, but overall I really like the rustic look of it.  Peace.

Designed2Delight, Sweet Stop, JUGS & The Pink Elephant

I participated in this challenge a LOT last year, and I have really missed it!  It's a progressive challenge - basically, if you grab the freebie the first week of the month and play in the challenge, you'll keep getting a new freebie every week to use for the following week.  I love Faith's style, and I love freebies, so I was happy that I remembered to participate this week!  The challenge is at:

I used SU! cardstock in Lovely Lilac and coordinating DP's.  Buttons are from my stash - brads are from SU! in Tempting Turquoise.  Image is colored with Prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits as well as SU! markers.  I hope to continue to participate in this challenge weekly!

Next up is a card I made for the:

Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge #98

I used the gorgeous new Michelle Perkett image called Grace, which you can find here.  She's colored with Prismacolors and mineral spirits. Cardstock & ribbon by SU!  DP by Pressed Petals.  "Dream" brad from my stash.

Lastly, I followed the sketch for this card at the:

Just Us Girls Challenge #74

and I figured bees are "Spring-like", so I am also using this for the:

Pink Elephant Challenge #95 - Spring Time

This cute little bee is from Lori Boyd's Lollipop collection, colored with Prismacolors and mineral spirits.  Cardstock and DP's in Basic Black and Whisper White, rub-on sentiment (altered) & glitter by SU!  Ribbon from my stash.

Inspired by... Teardrops on My Guitar

I couldn't wait to post this card for this challenge, I had so much fun making this...

I love Taylor Swift, and I love that she plays the guitar along with singing like an angel.  I had a blast altering these 2 Creepin' kids Jill and Tyler from the new TGF Creepin' Kit to make a guitar-playing girl.  :)  Paper and ribbon are from my stash, cardstock is Summer Sun, Ruby Red and Old Olive from SU!  Gemstone brads by SU!
Click HERE for the video of the Teardrops on my Guitar song that inspired me.

Peace.

BLD #7 and Sketch Saturday

Yup, I keep saying I'm not going to buy any more stamps or digi images, but my favorite artists just keep coming out with such adorable new stuff - I can't help myself!!!

Today's card features a new image from By Lori Designs, she's called Tabitha and she's from the Puddle Jumpers line.  I made this card for the:
Background paper is from my stash - I also used an oval shape of SU! Certainly Celery, and the circle punches are SU! Pixie Pink and Pink Passion.  Tabitha is colored with Prismacolors and mineral spirits.  Ribbon and button from my stash.  I sent this card to my mom - she lives less than a mile from me, but I never see her.  :(  I think it'll make her happy to know I miss her.

Next up is a card made with another Michelle Perkett digi image, isn't this birthday mermaid adorable?  This is for the:

Sketch Saturday Challenge #145

I used some of my favorite retired DP from SU! in bright colors Brilliant Blue, Only Orange, Old Olive and Bashful Blue.  Ribbon also from SU!

And... my friend and fellow Michelle Perkett DT member Irene gave me this cool blog award:

The rules are that I have to share the award with 8 fabulous crafters, and share 8 things about myself.  So for the 8 crafters, I would like to nominate:

Nikki at MelonHeadz
Christy at TiddlyInks
Hannah at Hannah Bug
Melissa at Melissa's Creative Space
Lori at ByLoriDesigns
Lou at LoopyLou's
Donna at PopsicleToes
Tracy at Jedi Scrapbooking

Now to tell you 8 things about me that you don't already know... hmmm...
1. I bite my nails - it's gross, but I can't stop it.
2. I am afraid of heights.  Badly afraid.
3.  I resisted getting a cell phone for a long time - I used to say "if I'm out, I don't want to be found."  Now I have a panic attack if my cell phone is out of my sight for 30 seconds.
4. I snore something fierce.
5. I love to look up at the stars and think... about everything.
6. When I was little, I never lasted the night at sleepovers - always had to go home by midnight.  hee hee
7. I have more than 30 first cousins.
8. I am not very adventurous, but I put white water river rafting on my bucket list.  ;)

Now pass it along, peeps.  And thank you, Irene, you're pretty fabulous yourself.  :)

Peace.
