Wicked Wednesday '60's Reminder &

Good morning friends!  Just here to remind you about our:

I used our sponsor's image, Girl Holding Flower from Jellypark - isn't she sweet?   I printed out some tie-dye paper on cardstock and used that for my ATC base.  I colored her with Prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits.  Head on over to the challenge blog and play along with us!  Peace.

I also have a couple of ATC's to share today - the first one is for the:

ATC's with Attitude - Anything Goes
and

I colored my Saturated Canary image with a splash of Prismacolor markers, Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits, and some glitter.  I dragged the cardstock base of the ATC through a black ink pad, and the edges of the sentiment through a red ink pad.  I used foam dimensional dots to adhere the sentiment over the image.

This next ATC is for two challenges:

and

My something old is the DP - it's a digi paper and I printed it out quite a long time ago but had this little scrap piece left, I thought it would be perfect for an ATC and I was right.  The something new is the Glimmer Mists (pink and purple).  My image is from Saturated Canary - the text is a word art digi from Tracey Brossart.

Have a great Friday!  Peace.

Secret Crafter Saturday, ATC's with Attitude, Glitter Geeks, Simon Says Stamp, & Sassy Studio

Good morning, my friends.  Hope you're staying warm wherever you are - it was a frosty 19 degrees this morning when I brought Cass to school.  BRRRRR!   I don't have to go in to work until later on today, so I'm taking advantage this morning and staying in my warm, comfy clothes and my fuzzy slipper-socks as long as I can!  :)

I have a few things to share today - I'm really in love with the Saturated Canary images and I just can't stop coloring them up.  Although I'm happy with most of my creations, I have to say that some of the stuff I've seen people come up with just puts me to shame.  I don't even want to post my stuff on their FB page anymore, because I feel like an amateur.  ROFL  But I don't care, it's not going to stop me from buying and coloring more!  hee hee  So this is for the:

And I wanted to bring some SUMMER into my life, so I came up with this ATC for the:

She's coming out with new images this month, too, and I heard a rumor that some of them will be Wizard of Oz characters.... cannot wait!!!!  :)  The Wizard of Oz is  probably my favorite story after Alice in Wonderland.  I am looking forward to snatching up those digis the minute Krista releases them!  LOL

I also have a card for the:

Glitter Geeks Challenge - Brand Spanking New

This is the first time I've ever printed out or colored up this gorgeous image from A Day for Daisies.  Not only is my image new, but also the pink Glimmer Mist is also one of my new Christmas presents.  :)  I colored with Prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits, and added lots of Dazzling Diamonds glitter to her wings.  I like the way the mist settled on the un-colored rose petal, looking like her paintbrush is dripping.  Accidentally perfect!  LOL

Oh - and one more thing!  Don't forget to head over to the:

I am currently a guest DT member, so I came up with this card for the theme, it's a NEW Year's card:

I am also entering this into the:

Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Something NEW

OK that's all for now!  Have a fabulous day - peace.

Rainbow Lady & Ribbon Girl

Back to the grind today!  I've had this post pulled up for 2 hours, but my son came out to chat with me this morning and I just have to take advantage of these talks when the opportunities arise (he's 18), so now I'm rushing to post before I leave for work.  :)  It was worth it, though, Trev is such a good kid... and he's struggling with what he wants to do in life, what he wants to "be", you know?  I can so relate - I'm 40 years old and I STILL don't know what I want to do or be!  LOL  So we chatted a bit and I gave him a pep talk and I think it made him feel a little better.  As a parent, I just wish so much I could make everything perfect for him.  With a snap of my fingers.  *sigh*  I guess that's the point of life, though, huh?  Struggling and growing and learning - I wouldn't really be doing him any favors if I fixed everything for him, as hard as that is to accept!

Anyway - for today I just have one card to share, and it's for the:

and

I colored my "Rags and Witches" image from Saturated Canary with Prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits and SU! markers.  I added some ribbon and sponged the background with black ink.

Have a fantastic day!  Peace.

Last Day Off!

Back to reality tomorrow - but these past 11 days of leisure sure have been nice.  I have to finish getting my Christmas tree down today, and then the holidays are officially over for another year.  And I'm OK with that.  :)

Today is my day to post over at the Just Some Lines blog - I made a couple of cards with some of the new images, and since I'm using new images, I figured I'd link first one up to the:

I colored "Tower of Gifts" and "Party Dog" with Prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits, DP is from My Mind's Eye.  The rub-on sentiment is from Stampin' Up!

I am also entering these into the:
Party Time Tuesdays Challenge - Anything Goes

Button and gemstone stickers are from my stash, DP is from My Mind's Eye.

Happy New Year & Totally Stamaplicious/SFTW

2011- what a year.  My son turned 18 and graduated high school.  My "baby", my daughter, turned 16 and started driving.  My husband and I both turned 40.  I learned a lot this year, and I have to laugh that it took me until I was 40 to learn some of this stuff.  Some of it I "knew" but never really accepted or believed - does that make sense?  Like my mom - I finally just accepted that my mom does love me in her own way, but it's probably never going to be the relationship that I so desperately wish we had.  I can either have no relationship with her at all, or I can have the one she's offering me.  Having none at all hurts too much, so I will take what she can give.  I just have to remember to avoid her when I'm feeling emotional/sensitive, or when I have PMS.  LOL ;)

Anyway, I don't mind getting older, I am finding that with age really does come certain types of wisdom and understanding.  I finally realized that just because I've known someone for 10-20 years (or a year, or five, or 40, whatever), does not mean that I have to continue to allow them to be a part of my life - especially if they are not a positive presence in it.  I learned that just because someone is related to me does not mean that I have to like them - or even love them.  Not only did I learn this, but I accepted it, for the most part.  When someone hurts you, you need to let them go - release them from your life.  You know the saying "Fool me once, shame on you - fool me twice, shame on me"?  I learned that this saying has a lot of truth to it - you don't have to keep allowing yourself to be hurt, to be fooled, even if the person doing it is related to you.

These were some tough lessons to learn, you know?  I learned that as much as I cannot stand "fake" people, I was being fake myself by continuing to try to stay friends with someone who I really don't like, just because "everyone else" is friends with her.  Sounds silly now, but the truth is that by realizing this, I also realized how many people do this.  Pretend to like people that they don't - and I don't want to surround myself with those kinds of people.  Life is just too short, you know?  I want to surround myself with people who love and accept me - not just when times are great and we're having fun, and not just when times are crappy and they can be the hero - but all.  the.  time.  People whose company I truly enjoy, and who enjoy mine.  People who let me be me because they love me for who I am.  I love spending my weekends at home with my husband, watching movies or TV, making cards and surfing the Internet, listening to music and hanging out with my kids - that's my kind of fun and that's OK.  :)

So anyway - happy new year to you all.  I hope you all find happiness and health in the new year, that's really all we can ask for.

OK my wonderful hubby wants pancakes, which I promised him an hour ago, so I will post this quickly - I do have one little card to share today - this is for the:

Have a fabulous day, friends.  Happy New Year!  Peace.
