Happy Valentine's Day! We don't make a real big deal about this holiday around my house, it's just a low-key reason to do something a little special. I bought everyone some candy and made Jeremy a card, and tonight I'm making chicken piccata for dinner, which we all love, and then brownies with ice cream and hot fudge for dessert. I'm not the kind of girl who wants/needs a gift for every little occasion - I would much prefer that Jeremy buys us $50 extra worth of groceries rather than buying me $50 worth of roses or even jewelry. I would also prefer a $2 Hershey bar with almonds over a $20 fancy box of chocolates. My husband is such a lucky man. *sigh* ;o)
Last night, Jeremy and I went to the 40th anniversary party for our friends' parents. It was a lot of fun, we had a good time even though I'm still battling this flu/head cold thing. It makes you realize how rare it is for couples to last long enough to celebrate a 40th anniversary! We saw a few friends we had not seen in a long time, and one of them seemed surprised that Jeremy and I were still together - he asked how long it's been and when we answered "almost 17 years" he just kind of stared at us. LOL Wanna see Jeremy and I almost 17 years ago? This was the Summer of 1992. We had just started dating but we had been really good friends for a year before dating (yes, we were 21 and no, he doesn't smoke anymore! LOL):

Jeremy has slightly less hair (ha!) and I have slightly more body fat, but we still love each other very much, and we still like each other, too. I'm thankful for that.
I hope you get to spend today with the people you love! Peace.
