Michelle Perkett & All That Scraps

Happy Birthday to me!  LOL  Today I turn (gasp!) 40 years old!  I don't mind a bit, I still feel like I'm 25.  OK maybe 30... hee hee  I'll be spending the day with my family and then tonight Jeremy and I are going out with my sister and some of our friends, I'm really looking forward to having some fun.

For today, I have a card from the Spotlight Saturday post at Michelle Perkett Studio:

And I also have a card for the:

I used a digital image, which I LOVE to use for this very reason:  you can print them as tiny or as big as you want.  I wanted to focus on her head and hands doing the peace sign, so I printed her really big and then cut off the rest of her body.  This was the first time I've used paint on a card.  I used Gesso all over a piece of cardstock and kept it kind of thick and goopy, then I dropped little bits of acrylic paint in purple, blue, and green into it and swirled it around and let it dry.  It created this cool tie-dye effect.  I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and added a sticker from SRM.  Simple but so cute!

I looked up my horoscope today and here's what it said:

Think of this as the beginning of something great, because it surely will be. Your job is to make room for new people, things and opportunities by doing some serious housecleaning -- figuratively and literally.

I think it's quite appropriate, I've actually already started the process and I feel 100 times better than I did a few months ago.  Sometimes we let people stay in our lives even when they are hurting us, sucking the life and energy out of us, just because they've been part of our lives for a long time or because we WISH things were different.  I realized that length of time for knowing someone doesn't mean a damn thing if they treat you with anything other than love and respect.  And WISHING doesn't make things happen.  So today is the first day of the rest of my life, and I plan to make the most of it.  Of today, and of the rest of my life.  Glad that so many of you are a part of it.  xoxo
Peace.

TGF, a la card monkey & Crafts and Me

Yay - it's Thursday!  That means I'm heading out with my good friend Linda, we'll do some shopping and browsing and have lunch together but my favorite part of our day is talking.  :)  Linda is a sweetheart and I always go home smiling after spending the day with her.  You just have to have friends like that in your life, you know?

Today's card is for 3 challenges:

I used the sassy Creeper Monday stamp, paired with a cute banner.  "Merci" stamp, cardstock and DP are from Stampin' Up!  I colored with mostly Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and a few Stampin' Up! markers.  Gemstone stickers are from my stash.  Hope you all have a happy day.  Peace.

Pixie Dust & D2D

I was so excited to win the challenge at Pixie Dust Studios last week, I decided to use my new image (Miss Britney) to play along again this week.  The challenge is:

My favorite color is PURPLE - did you guess?  :)  I used purple and pink DP and colored with Prismacolor markers so it would be nice and bright.  The buttons are from my stash.

Next up is my card for this week's challenge at:

Delightful Inspiration Stamp of the Month Friday Challenge

and

Delightful Inspiration Saturday Challenge - BUTTONS

This week, the oh so generous Faith let us pick any image we wanted from her store to create something with.  I chose the Lakeside Shack image, and paired it with Surfer Emma from All That Scraps.  I won't lie - this took me FOREVER to color, but it came out so pretty.  I wish you could see it IRL - I colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits, and used blue glitter on the lake.  DP is from My Mind's Eye - buttons are from foof-a-la.

Found out yesterday that Trev got accepted into our local community college, he will be majoring in Criminal Justice.  I'm bringing him up to register for classes today - so exciting!!!

Hope you're all having a good week!  Peace.

Lots of STUFF...

I have quite a bit to share with you today, so sit back and relax.  ;)  I had a marathon creating session yesterday, and still managed to sit in the sun for an hour with Cass and then make a yummy baked ziti for dinner.  I love Summer, I love the carefree-ness of it!  OK so the first creation is for the:

This is the inspiration photo we were given:

And here is the ATC that I made for this challenge, which I'm also linking up to the Make it Monday Linky Party:
The butterfly images are from Dilly Beans, colored with Prismacolor markers.  The text is a digi stamp from Tiddly Inks.  DP is from Crate Paper, ink and ribbon are from Stampin' Up!

Next - I told you I'd share my art journal pages that I'm making as part of The Greeting Farm's Heart Journaling class, and I decided to actually enter my pages into a couple of challenges this week, that's how much my skills improved in ONE week.  I'm so proud.  :)  So here are the pages:

And the challenges I'm entering them into are:

Stampin' Royalty - Summer

Craft Your Days Away - Summer

Anyone for Anya - No Patterned Paper

I used Gesso on my pages, let them dry.  Then I mixed some paints with water to create the watered-down sand and sky.  Then I took some gray paint and finger-painted a rock and some smaller rocks.  I let it all dry and then stamped Syren in Versafine ink and embossed her.  I colored her in with Prismacolor markers.  The sand is sprinkled with clear glitter, and the starfish are made from wooden stars covered in champagne colored glitter.

And last for today is my card for the:
I used the adorable Gnome Surprise image, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  I used White Fun Flock on their beards and eyebrows, it's so cute in real life!  LOL  The paper is from My Mind's Eye and the ribbon and cardstock are from Stampin' Up!  PHEW - that's it, see you tomorrow!  Peace.
