I gotta tell ya - the weather has just been so beautiful, it's amazing.  I sat outside for a couple of hours yesterday and I'm one big freckle.  LOL

Whimsie Doodles & All That Scraps

Happy Monday!  I had a fabulous weekend, hope you all did too.  It's really funny how when you start looking at life with a more positive outlook, you start to just kind of experience things in a more positive way... you start to enjoy life more, I guess.  :)

Whimsie Wednesday Challenge - Beach Theme!

I used a tropical beach background image from Make It Crafty, and the little whale image from Whimsie Doodles.  I fussy-cut out the whale and cut a little out of the water line so I could insert him in.  Everything is colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  Cardstock & oval punch are from SU!  Ribbon is from my stash.

I used Hairdresser Honey - colored with a combination of SU! markers and Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  Cardstock, DP, flower brads and ribbon pieces all from SU!

Southern Girls Inner Child

Since most of my cards tend to run along the "childish" side, it wasn't too hard to come up with a card for the:

Southern Girls Challenge - Bring out your Inner Child

I used "Angel Skip-De-Doo" from Just Some Lines, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  Cardstock, DP, and decorative brads are all from SU!  I roughened up the edges a bit with a sanding block and dragged them through a Chocolate Chip ink pad.

I'm off to a birthday party this afternoon for one of my friend's daughters, it's a gorgeous day and I am going to enjoy it.  Hope you all do the same.  :)

Tiddly Inks Bad to the Bone, AllSorts & Pink Saturday

Happy Saturday!  I had lunch yesterday with one of my very best friends in the world, An.  She knew I was feeling down lately and took me out to lunch, which was nice - but more importantly, she gave me a much-needed pep talk and helped put things in perspective for me.  I am a lucky girl, and sometimes I just need to remind myself of that.

HDH - Xtremely Xhaustive

It's been fun participating in the Macabre Monday challenges at Haunted Design House - the theme this week was Xtremely Xhaustive - use LONG elements on your card.  I came up with this zombie beauty:

I used the Halloween Bride digi image from The Greeting Farm, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  Cardstock & DP are from SU!  I used a realllllllly long piece of SU! ribbon and wrapped it around the card several times for my long element.  Buttons are from foof-a-la.  Peace.

Anyone for Anya, The Pink Elephant & The Sweet Stop

As most of you know, my son Trevor graduated from high school a few weeks ago.  His goal for the past few years has always been to go into the Coast Guard.  He had discussed his plan with many people, including military members of the ROTC program he participated in early in high school.  We sent some information to a recruiter the other day, and my husband received a phone call within 48 hours - telling us that Asperger's disqualifies Trevor from military service.  We were disappointed, mainly because we knew Trev would be.  We have since discovered that this recruiter might not be 100% correct - but we're also not sure if we want to push it.  As a mom, I feel like "Do I want to send my son somewhere that he's not wanted?"  So we're going to spend the next few weeks doing some more research and talking to Trev - his ultimate goal has always been to become a police officer, so we may just have to help him figure out an alternate route to get there.  Either way, this kid is just a fantastic person - anyone not willing to give him a shot is missing out.  :)  He was so cute - this afternoon he very seriously asked me, "Mom - is it OK if I live with you guys for a few more years?"  I told him OF COURSE it was OK - that we love him and enjoy his company and that he'll need to do something with his life but that he can live with us for as long as he needs to.  I told him I'm actually honored that he wants to stay with us - so many kids are so anxious to leave home.  He ended up telling me that was why he asked - he knows quite a few  kids who moved out of their parents' homes and ended up broke, homeless, destitute, etc.  So I assured him that we were in no hurry for him to move out, and I secretly did a little happy dance after I left his room.  hee hee
