Good morning! Well, we ended up with a whopping total of 23 inches of snow this weekend! LOL It was the perfect opportunity to just hang out in my craft room and I got LOTS done! I took a free background class from Tiffany Solorio and I ended up winning a paid class, I'm so excited! I am thinking I'll take the mixed media one, but I haven't decided yet. Her classes are awesome - she's amazingly talented and she has a soothing voice, which absolutely matters when you're listening to someone talk for 4 hours. LOL You know what I learned in the background class? That not every card needs to be challenge-worthy! I tend to hoard all of my backgrounds and save them for "the perfect card" but lemme tell ya, taking that restriction off myself while I created really helped! I ended up making 12 cards and a tag! Do I "LOVE" them all? No. Will I use them all? Yes!
Anyway, here's one that I feel IS challenge worthy... ;) I'd like to enter this one into the following challenges:
Inkspirational - Shades of Blue
Lil Patch of Crafty Friends - Anything Goes
Stamping Sensations - B is for.... (blue)
Wednesday's Creative Inspiration - Anything Goes
OK so when I was cataloging my stamp sets the other day, it made me realize how many adorable stamps I have that I have NEVER INKED UP. For shame, for shame! So I kept the Sparkle Big Kit from The Greeting Farm out and played with one of the mermaids. I stamped her with Versafine Black and embossed with clear embossing powder. I colored her with Copics, fussy cut, and attached with foam dimensional tape to the die cut inlay. I created the background by mixing 2 blue shades of Lindy's Magicals on a piece of watercolor paper. I die cut the seashell and sentiment from plain white cardstock and die cut the sand dollar from a piece of text DP from Unity Stamp Co. Peace.

WOW! 23 inches is a ton of snow! I bet it is pretty though. I can't even imagine. So impressed that you are also cataloguing your stamps. Sounds like something I would benefit from but a ton of work. As for your darling card...Love that little mermaid girl and the texture and subtle patterns throughout the card. Everything blends well together. Thanks for playing at Color Hues and stay warm and stay home.
ReplyDeleteThis is just adorable and I love all the added die cuts.
ReplyDeleteThanks for playing along with us at Stamping Sensations.
