WW Reminder and Really Reasonable Ribbon

Happy Saturday!  Cassidy and I visited my mom yesterday and we actually had a nice visit.  If you don't count all the comments about my weight, anyway.  LOL  She just can't help herself, I guess, and luckily I was in a good mood  yesterday so I just didn't let it get to me.  It's not easy, though, I won't lie.  She makes me feel like a little kid - I love her so much, and it's hurtful to feel like she'd love me more if I lost weight.  Knowing how much I love my own daughter, absolutely unconditionally, just makes it hurt a little bit more.

But I digress!  I have a couple ADORABLE (if I do say so myself!) ATC's to share with you today from my reminder post at

Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge - Winter Fun

I used Maddie from Saturated Canary, our prize image and sponsor this week.  For this first ATC, I printed a cropped version of Maddie's head and skates onto Kraft cardstock.  I turned Maddie's skates into a little embellishment, using my circle punches and pop-up foam dimensional dots.  I colored with Prismacolor and Copic markers and lots of glitter and used DP from My Mind's Eye:
I am also entering this one into the:
Tuesday Throwdown Challenge - Celebrate the Season

For this next ATC, I printed Maddie and a Santa hat from Digi Darla onto white glossy cardstock and DP from My Mind's Eye.  I paper-pieced the Santa hat and the top of her outfit with the red and white polka dot DP.  I colored with Prismacolor markers, added white Fun Flock to her cap and stamped "ho ho ho" along the side with a stamp from The Greeting Farm:

I am also entering this ATC into the:
ATC's with Attitude Challenge - Anything Goes

Head on over to the WW ATC challenge blog here and play along with us!  You have until Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. EST to link up.

There is a story behind this next project.  This was made for the family of a very special little girl named Megan.  Megan was 11 years old when she died after battling cancer valiantly.  Before getting sick, Megan loved to play soccer.  And her favorite color was purple.   Megan's dad works with a friend of mine, Chris.  Chris knew that I was involved with ChemoAngels and told me about Megan - so I became her Angel.  I sent her cards and gifts every week while she battled cancer - and right before Christmas in 2007, her mom drove her from Rhode Island to my home in Massachusetts to meet me.  She brought me a giant gift basket that included a fleece blanket with kitties all over it that Meg made for me.  I keep that blanket on my couch and I snuggle up with it every night and think of Megan.  Not one single day goes by that she's not in my thoughts.  I am so very grateful to her mom for taking the time to bring her to meet me, and I will treasure that memory in my heart forever.  Her mom and I remain friends, and this is what I created for their family for Christmas this year, inspired by the:

This little soccer girl is from Tiddly Inks.  I drew the "M" on her shirt.  I used a chipboard coaster sprayed with Silver Foil and Gold Glow Smooch Spritz, printed the image twice and used Mod Podge to apply the first image, then foam dimensional dots to apply the 2nd image slightly askew from the first.  I tied the silver and gold ribbons to it so it could be used as an ornament.  Please say a little prayer for Meg's family, as they get through their 4th Christmas without their sweet little bumblebee.  Love you always, Meg.  xoxo
Peace.

Dilly Beans Twisted Christmas & Sassy Studio Christmas Challenge #9

So yesterday morning was awful.  Big fire in the city where I live, one firefighter died and one was injured.  The injured was a good friend of my husband's and the firefighter who died was his partner.  My brother-in-law is also a firefighter, as are several of our friends, and I was just a mess all morning, worried about them all.  So I wrote on Facebook to my sister about how I don't know her and the other firefighter wives do it, send their husbands to work every day knowing they are risking their lives.
Then I came home from work and my husband laughed at my comment - because he's an iron worker.  If you look up the top 10 most dangerous jobs in the US, iron worker is usually around number 5 or 6.  Firefighters aren't even on the list.  (What makes them unique, in my mind, is the fact that they are usually risking their lives for others.  Like our military.  That's pretty special.)  Anyway - uh - thanks, Jeremy, way to reassure me.  I told him that I live in my own little world of denial when it comes to this, because I just couldn't handle it if I thought about it like that every day.  I mean, I know that when it's your time to go, you're going to go.  That's just the way it is.  But I can't think about it ahead of time - it's just too much to fathom.  So I realized - that is how they do it, the firefighters wives. The fishermen's wives (number 1 most dangerous job).  The airplane pilot's wives and the logger's wives.  Anyone who has a loved one with a dangerous job.  Because what else are we going to do?  This is what our husbands do for a living, and most of them enjoy what they do.  If they die doing what they love and supporting their families, as far as I'm concerned that alone makes them heroes.  But I'll be saying a special prayer tonight for the kids that firefighter left behind (a single dad - heartbreaking), and for all of his "brothers" in the fire department.  And I said a little prayer for my husband as he left for work this morning, too.

Tuesday Throwdown & TGF Heart Journal

Can you believe it's already a full week into December?  That snuck up on me right quick.  And why is blogger telling me that snuck is not a word?  Of course it is.  Pfft.  What?  Pfft is not a word, either?  *sigh*  Looks like I need to give Blogger a spelling lesson!  ;)

I am STILL making Christmas cards.  I think I have about 20 more to make before I'm DONE.  Here's a cute one I made for the:

I used one of the Simply Betty rubber stamps that I won, MistleHolly Brittany - isn't she adorable?
Next up I have my art journal pages for this week's:

I took this theme literally, I knew right away what I wanted to do.  I printed the quote out and drew the peace sign myself.  The peace dove and "share peace" text is a freebie from Michelle Perkett Studio that you can find here.  I dragged ink pads around the journal pages.  Hope you like.  Peace.  ;)

So Much FUN STUFF!!!

Oh my gosh - woke up yesterday morning around 1:00 a.m. with one of the worst migraines I've had in a long time.  It was awful.  When they're that bad, I can't even sleep.  After Jeremy left for work, I took some medicine and finally fell asleep and slept until almost 1:00 p.m.  I still didn't feel great when I woke up, but was at least able to function.  Thankfully, I don't get them all that often anymore - but when I do, UGH.

So anyway - wanted to post the winner of the adorable Meditating/Yoga Elf on the Shelf image from Amber Ink!  I had 20 comments on my post here and Random.org chose....

Congratulations Tanny P.!  Please e-mail me at JennBorj@yahoo.com and we'll get your image to you!

D2D & Crafty Ann's

Hello hello hello!  Do you guys watch "2 Broke Girls" by any chance? OMG - soooo funny.  I absolutely love this show - if you haven't seen it, you have to.  You just cannot go another week without seeing this show.  And if you're one of those people who don't smile much, you better stretch your facial muscles this week before you watch it (it's on Mondays), cuz you WILL laugh.  I guarantee it.  It's our new favorite show, replacing Two and a Half Men, which my husband is boycotting because he misses Charlie.  *sigh*  Yup, we lead exciting lives around here.  ROFL

So anyway - here's what I've got for you today!  I made this for the:
and
Crafty Ann's Christmas Bingo (I used red, green and gold/silver but I also used presents, tree, and green!)  So I get a double BINGO!  ;)

I colored my D2D image with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and then I covered him and the ground with white Fun Flock.  DP is from My Mind's Eye.  Buttons are from foof-a-la.
Peace.
