Hello friends!  I am looking forward to finishing up my Halloween projects for the 31 Days of Halloween that starts Tuesday, so that's my plan for today.  Halloween is my favorite holiday, so this has been so much fun creating for.  I can't wait to share my projects with you all!  Anyway - I'm just popping in to share my reminder posts for today.

First up - we have a reminder at:

Our sponsor is KennyK - come play along for your chance to win!

Dilly Beans: Jewels/Glitter & From the Heart Halloween

Well, I'm posting late today!  It's been a crazy Friday - Trev met with the Navy recruiter this morning and brought home a stack of paperwork to fill out. It's a little after 3:00 p.m. now and I just cracked my bottle of Barefoot Moscato and so I guess the weekend starts now. ;)  But I realized I had not yet posted this, so here I am.  Before I drink my wine.  hee hee  I hope you all have a great weekend.

We have a new challenge for you today at:

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:

The image I used from Dilly Beans is #453: Daisy Girl Framed.  I colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and added tons of Stickles to the flowers.  DP is from My Mind's Eye, then I added a bunch of gemstone stickers all around the edges.  On a side note, I'm really happy with how her eyes came out!

I have been working on my 31 Days of Halloween projects and trying to save any and all Halloween-related crafts to be used during that time... but I just had to use this sweet image to play along with the:

I'd also like to enter this into:

The image I used is called Bewitchin' Birdbrains, and I colored it with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  DP is from Authentique (this is my all-time favorite Halloween paper!).  I added a couple of coordinating cardstock stickers as embellishments.  Peace.

Light of Life Birthday Wishes

Good morning!  I've been feeling a lot better lately - it really does help when you make yourself do things besides sitting around thinking about all of the bad stuff... because there's always going to be "bad stuff".  I'm not the kind of person who normally lets it get to me.  But I guess I'm only human.  Anyway, Jeremy's dad finished his last radiation treatment on Monday.  He'll continue to feel the effects for a while - the radiation continues to burn even after it's done.  It's heartbreaking, actually, but worth it if it saves his life.  I've been keeping in touch with him via text messages, since he can't really speak (throat cancer).  I haven't spoken to my mom in a few days, but my step-dad says she's not great.  Not terrible, but not great.  The arm just doesn't want to heal - most likely because she doesn't want to sit freaking still.  She told me that she told the doctor if they want to operate on her again, they're going to have to admit her and keep her for a few days because she just can't go home and sit on the couch and do nothing.  She's crazy and stubborn and I wouldn't change her for the world.  ;)  But I am looking forward to going home and being there if she, or Jeremy's dad (or gram, or anyone else) needs me.  :)  Just trying to stay positive and remember that everything will work out the way it's supposed to.

Today I have a card to share that I'm going to enter into the following challenges:

I used "Light of Life" - a digi stamp by From the Heart/Designed2Delight.  I printed it on some polka dot DP and then colored it with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  This DP is from My Mind's Eye - I wasn't crazy about it until I needed to make a masculine birthday card - perfect!  I added a button and kept it pretty simple, but I like the way it came out. Peace.

Raven Wings

Hi everyone - Monday again.  :)  I have an appointment for an eye exam tomorrow, which I'm excited about because I am getting new glasses for the first time in several years.  I'll give you all an update on my mom and Jeremy's dad tomorrow, too.  Today I'm just posting this sweet little card quickly and linking up to a few challenges:

I used an image from Sweet Pea Stamps called Raven Wings.  I kept this CAS - used paper from My Mind's Eye for the background, added a coordinating paper strip and a white feather.  The inside has a sympathy sentiment, sorry I forgot to photograph it.  :)  Peace.

A Girl Without Freckles

Good morning! Are you ready for some football?  Go Pats!  :)
Today's card is for the following challenges:
(this is my favorite sentiment because my sister and I grew up with freckles - she hated hers, and I loved mine.  I'm still trying to get her to embrace hers - at 40 years old, they now help us to keep a youthful appearance!  LOL)
I used "Sweetie" From the All Dressed Up shop, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  The sentiment is from Ginger's House (attached with diamond-gemstone brads).  I used Silver Foil Smooch Spritz on the cardstock base, then used silver embossing powder to stamp the stars, giving it texture.  I wrapped a piece of twine around the card and attached an old charm I had in my stash. Have a relaxing Sunday!  Peace.

Daisies & Ladybugs

Hello there!  I can hardly believe it - although the news did warn we'd get rain, I learned last year that the media's idea of "rain" here is more of a foggy condensation in the air.... but not today.  Holy cow - woke up to downpours!  It's dark, foggy, and it's raining.  It sounds pretty, and I can hardly complain about the first rainy day in about 4 months!  But it definitely feels strange!  LOL  I guess it's a good day to craft and clean without any guilt about not enjoying the sunshine!  :)

Today we have a reminder post for you at:

I would like to enter this ATC into the following challenges:

A Creative Romance: Dies or Punches
Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge: 2 or More Patterned Papers

Thanks & Sending you Autumn Sunshine

Hello everyone!  Woke up to a very foggy day - Jeremy and I are driving into San Francisco today to pick up his mom from the airport (she lives about 1/2 hour from us).  I like going into San Fran as long as I don't have to be the one driving.  LOL  We'll probably go out to lunch, which is always nice.  I didn't talk to my mom or Jeremy's dad yesterday, but I did talk to my step-dad who said that my mom was taking her pain killers - something she hates to do.  So that's good that she's taking them, but bad that she needs them.  Please continue to keep them both in your thoughts.  Thank you!

Yesterday I took some time and created 2 cards to share today - the first one is for the:

I used an older image from Tiddly Inks, I can no longer find her in the shop but she's saved in my files as "Thank You" - I paper-pieced her clothes and hair ribbons with paper from My Mind's Eye.  The rest of her is colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  Sentiment is also from Tiddly Inks.  I added some buttons from my stash and a paper flower with a button center to finish it off.

My TIP is this:  Treat paper piecing like paper dolls - print your image several times and cut out the various pieces from different prints to mix and match and get a unique look.  Scrap pieces of paper are great for this - print your image on a plain piece of paper and then use temporary adhesive to attach small scraps to the parts of the image you want on that particular paper before running it through your printer again.

And next is my card for this month's:

From the Heart Stamp of the Month Challenge

I'm also entering this one into the:

I used this month's Bobbing for Apples freebie (From the Heart), colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  Paper is from Stampin' Up! and I added some coordinating ribbon tags and buttons.  Sentiment is also from Designed2Delight/From the Heart.  Peace.

ADFD & Allsorts

Good morning!  I'm heading to the tattoo shop this afternoon to get a couple of my tattoos worked on, and I am sooooo looking forward to it.  I love getting inked - I love the smell of the shop, I love the noise of the tattoo gun, and I love the way it feels when you're getting a piece of art inked onto your body.  It's funny - you either love it or you don't.  I always have and always will.  :)  To each his own, right?

Today I have 2 cards to share, the first one is for the:

I used Wild Violet Nymph from ADFD, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and lots of Stickles.  I added some matching gemstone stickers, a ribbon, and some pretty flowers.  I also used a stencil for the background.  Cardstock, ink, button, and ribbon are all SU! Tempting Turquoise.

And next is a card I made for the card order I had last week and decided it would fit perfectly for the:

I used Daisy Bird Bath from A Day for Daisies, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and a touch of Stickles.  I also used some Color Shine spray/spritz in Tinsel from pink paislee.  Papers are from MME, ribbon is from my stash. Peace.

Mushroom Fairy

Hello everyone!  Just talked to my mom and she's got surgery scheduled for 2:00 this afternoon to clean out her infection.  She sounded in good spirits, but she would never let me hear her sound any other way.  She also said how bad her arm hurts - and then went on to tell me that she got up at 5:00 a.m. and vacuumed the house, did laundry, and made a Shepherd's Pie for my dad & brother for dinner.  *sigh*  The woman just does NOT know how to take it easy!  Man, I wish I was there to help.  I've been texting Jeremy's dad, too, as he cannot speak above a whisper (radiation to the throat for cancer) so I'm really thankful for the technology that allows us to stay in touch even when he cannot really speak.  He is trying to stay positive, too - I really wish we could visit him and give him a hug.

Today I have a card for the:
and
and

I used Cute Fairy Toadstool & Cute Fairy 4 from Digi Stamp Boutique, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  I added some Diamond Stickles to her wings and shoes.  DP is from My Mind's Eye - I attached the little ladybug to a button and then used a glue dot to attach the button.  Peace.

From the Heart Sketch

Good morning!  I've been working on a card order all weekend, which has been fun.  It's also been a good distraction - I'm feeling kind of helpless being so far away from our families as they both go through medical issues.  *sigh*  December feels so damn far away.  Anyway, I decided to take a break from the card order and made this cute little Halloween card for the:

I used the adorable Falloween Cat (I don't think he's available anymore, but he's one of my faves!) from Designed2Delight/From the Heart, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  I added some Glo Skulls & die cut spiders for my embellies.  Peace.

Dilly Beans: Buttons & Jellypark: All About the Kids

Good morning, friends.  Well, I got some not-so-great news from back home yesterday, which of course just makes me even more homesick.  My mom has been doing awesome with her arm, the doctor was super impressed with her recovery - then she found out yesterday that she has an infection and had to schedule surgery for this morning.  A huge set-back, but she'll be OK.  It just sucks being so far away from her.  Then I talked to Jeremy's aunt and found out that his dad, who is fighting throat cancer and in the middle of radiation, had to be hospitalized yesterday for dehydration and a feeding tube.  He can't eat, it just hurts too much.  My heart feels very heavy - I try to stay strong and supportive and optimistic when I talk to everyone, but then I go have a good cry in the shower.  I guess that's OK, right?  It has to be, because if I hold it in I will just explode.  I'm such a lucky girl, though - I've got some really good friends who just know how to make me smile and laugh when I need it.  Some of you will read this and some have no idea I even have a blog - and I love you all with all of my heart.  Couldn't make it through the days and stay sane without you.  So thank you.  You know who you are.  :)  And if you could all just keep Connie (my mom) and Rich (Jeremy's dad) in your thoughts and/or prayers, it would be greatly appreciated.

Today we have a new challenge for you at:

I am also entering my Cute as a Button card into the following challenges:

I used Dilly Beans #569: Milla Framed, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and lots of Stickles.  Paper and chipboard buttons are from My Mind's Eye, the rest of the buttons are from my stash.  I printed the sentiment on the DP with my word processing program and tied a ribbon from Stampin' Up! around it.

ADFD: Add a Ruffle

Happy Labor Day!  Any exciting plans this weekend?   Cass and I are just running out to do some errands.  I've had a lot on my mind lately, I don't know if anyone has noticed how quiet I've been but I just sit here and don't know what to say.  Cass and I are lonely here in California.  We miss our friends and family so very much.  It just makes life so... different.  And I know I've been less-than-myself lately, so I finally told Jeremy.  He loves it here, though, and he wouldn't be happy going back.  So we've decided that Cass and I are going to find a house to rent back East, we'll head back in December and Jeremy will stay here with Trev for now.  We'll have to visit each other for a while - maybe I'll end up wanting to come back here in a few months and maybe I'll decide I was crazy to even try it.  But all I know is that I'm normally such a happy person, and lately I don't feel like that.  Not me.  And I hate it.  I can't even call my mom or sister or a friend and vent, because everyone is around me 24/7. I love hanging out with my daughter and we're so very lucky that we're so close - but I even know that is not "normal" and we should both be spending time with our own friends... :(   Sometimes I really hate being a grown-up.

Anyway - let's get to the art.  LOL
Today's card is for the:

I am also entering this into the following challenges:

Kraftyhands Challenge: Anything Goes
Creative Corner: Child's Play
Polka Doodles: Fairy Time
Cute Card Thursday: Things with Wings

I knew what I wanted to create for this challenge, but adding the ruffle was hard for me - I'm not a "ruffle" girl.  LOL  But I think it came out quite sweet!  The image is from ADFD and is called "Holding Fireflies with Wings" - the sentiment is from Fairy Jenn's Word Art.  Have a great Labor Day, friends.  Peace.
