Merry Christmas Eve!

Hi everyone!  Merry Christmas Eve!  :)  In my family, Christmas Eve is really the "big deal" - ever since I was little.  This year is our first year in California, and we are going to Jeremy's mom's house for an early dinner.  We have to get home early so we can exchange our gifts here and finish packing.  Cass and I are flying out on Christmas morning, our flight leaves around 8:30 a.m.  So we all have to get a good night's sleep because Jeremy is driving us to the airport. I'm a little bit nervous and a lot excited.  I can't wait to see my mom, my sister, my friends... Linda, I can't wait to see you!  :)

I thought I'd share some of the Christmas cards I made that didn't get blogged about earlier since I don't plan on blogging many more Christmas cards again until next year!  LOL

This one uses an image from Heather Ellis Designs and I'm entering it into the:

Glitter n Sparkle Challenge: Christmas/New Year's or Use a Digi (I did both)

This one is from DigiStampBoutique and I'm linking it up to their Customer Competition:

My next card uses a Santa freebie from Dearie Dolls and a sentiment freebie from TLC Creations:

The next 2 cards use images from Whimsie Doodles:

My posts for the next couple of weeks have all been pre-scheduled, so you'll still be hearing from me.  I'll be popping in every now and then from my mom's house, too.  I hope you all have a magical and wonderful Christmas!
Peace.

Day 11 S&S 12 Days of Creepmas & Dilly Beans: Make an Ornament

Welcome to Day 11 of the Smeared & Smudged 12 Days of Creepmas.  You should have arrived here from Monique's blog - if you need the blog roll list, it's on my sidebar.
<----------------------------------------

My offering for today is a special card I made for a special friend.  This is Alison from Tiddly Inks and this fun twisted easel card (my first!) is for her namesake, my good friend Alison:
I am also entering this card into the:
Tiddly Inks Challenge: Make it Like Pops (I made a twisted easel card)
 Card Makin Mamas: Happy Holidays

I colored Alison to look like... well, Alison.  hee hee  :)  I gave her a cardinal instead of a raven, because Alison has a thing for cardinals.  I kept this card for the final non-Smeared Ink day because I wanted to be sure the real Alison received it before I posted it!  hee hee  DP is from Authentique, and I popped up the "merry christmas" sentiment on the base to give the panel something to hold it up with.  I think this is my least creepy creation during this fun hop.event, but she is a Christmas witch, so I think she fits the theme!  :)  Next stop on the hop is the Incredible Ike.  Have fun hopping!
*********************************
We have a fun new challenge for you today at:

I used Frida's Sugar Skull from Dilly Beans along with a hat from Digi Darla, colored with Prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits.  DP is from Authentique (my fave Christmas paper by far!).  Ribbon is from SU! Peace.

Next is a card I made to send to the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, and I just wanted to share it with you all:

The sweet image is from A & T Digital Designs.  I wish there was something I could do to erase the pain of those poor people... *sigh*

<----------------------------------------

Today is a Smeared Ink day, so I decided to make some mistle-TOE.... hee hee   I hope you like my creation - if you look closely, the background text is basically the definition and history of mistletoe!  I warn you, the card is a little, uh, bloody.  Last chance to leave!  OK - still wanna see it?

Here you go:

Rest in peace angels & ADFD: Shades of Blue

Good morning everyone.  It's been a tough weekend, to say the least.  Between the media and Facebook, I've seen and read hundreds of articles, statements, and opinions about the horrific events that took place on Friday in Newtown, Connecticut.  I'm exhausted, emotionally and spiritually.  Most people want to blame someone or something - guns, parents, violent video games, etc.  The sad truth is that gun control won't help in a situation like this.  It just won't.  If someone wants to do what these disgusting pieces of shit have done, they will find a way to do it. I read a really good article this morning that was one of the best, most honest pieces of writing I've seen in a long time - you can read it here.  I am not looking to start a debate about guns or mental illness - I'm just one person who has been deeply affected and needs to say something to ease the pain in my heart.  Please join me in remembering the VICTIMS, not the perpetrator.  Rest in peace, you angels (I apologize in advance if there are any errors - this list was taken from a news website):

Today's card is an appropriate one - a blue angel for the:

This card is for my daughter's best friend, Missy, who is like a 2nd daughter to me.  We are mailing out her Christmas package tomorrow, so I made this sweet card to tuck in with it.  I hope you all enjoy your Sunday - I'll be making a few cards in between baking cookies and making Chex Mix (a holiday tradition for me and in serious demand by my nephews back East, gotta get it packaged up to stick in their Christmas boxes, too!).  Peace.

S & S 12 Days of Creepmas Day 8, MAWT, WW Reminder, DICC, & Forever Friends

I have spent the last 24 hours or so consumed by the horrific events that took place in Newtown, Connecticut yesterday. I cannot imagine what that community is going through right now, and my heart just breaks for them all.  I tried to wrap Christmas gifts last night, but I just kept thinking about the parents who lost their little ones yesterday, and my heart wasn't in it at all.  I keep saying "why?" but the "why" doesn't even matter, does it?

The best thing we can all do at a time like this is to love and support each other.  Tell the people you love what they mean to you.  Hug your children a little tighter, and be a little more patient with them.  For that matter, be patient with strangers - remember that you just never know what someone might be going through.  Peace & love to you all.
************************************
I have a lot to share with you today, so get comfy!

First - it's Day 8 at Smeared & Smudged 12 Days of Creepmas!  You should have arrived here from Monique's blog - I have the blog roll over on my sidebar if you get lost.

Dilly Beans & Jellypark

Oh my gosh - did any of you get outside and look up at the sky during the past few nights?  My kids and I went out for about 45 minutes last night and we must have seen 15 meteors (shooting stars) - it was incredible and awesome.  Inspiring.  Humbling.

So we have a new challenge for you today at:

I used Amalia's Candy Cane, colored with Prismacolor markers, Prismacolor pencils, and mineral spirits.  Sentiment is from Tracey Brossart.  DP is from My Mind's Eye.

We also have a new challenge for you at:

I used our new release tag image for both of my creations, the first is a tag and the 2nd is a card with a tag on it:
For the tag, I used a freebie angel from the Jellypark newsletter (make sure you are a subscriber here so you don't miss out on future freebies!), fussy-cut her and attached her to the tag.  I colored her with Prismacolor markers, Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits - added pink Stickles and white Fun Flock.

For this one, I used our Cute Penguin in Wooly Hat digi stamp and I merged the image onto the tag using Paint.net.  I fussy-cut the tag and colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  DP is from My Mind's Eye - I added some deep red pearl stickers and attached the tag to the card with pop dots.  Sentiment was made with my Dynamo Caption Maker. Come on over to see the rest of the new release and to play along with our new challenge!  Peace.

****************************
Next up is my offering for this month's:

Designed2Delight Challenge

I used the Balloon Bouquet that I got as a freebie for playing along last month, isn't he cute?  I colored him very patiently with my Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  That dark gray took 3 shades of gray, but I think it was worth it - I like the way he looks.  I sponged the edges with blue ink.  DP is from MME - I stamped Happy Birthday onto the DP, then sponged more blue ink on the ribbon I tied around it. Peace.

Day 5 of S&S 12 Days of Creepmas

Well hello there!  Today is Day 5 of the
You should have arrived here from Monique's blog - the blog roll is over on the left sidebar <----------------------------------
Here's my creation, an altered jar that I turned into
I filled my jar with holiday M&M's.  Printed my Dilly Beans Skellie image with a Santa Hat from The Octopode Factory several times in a row and fussy-cut them in a strip.  I took a piece of red cardstock and applied my strip of images to it with Mod Podge.  I then used Mod Podge to attach the cardstock to the jar.  More Mod Podge on the cover to attach a piece of DP (cut into a circle slightly larger than the cover and then just bunched in) - then tied a piece of ribbon around it.  And here's a little tip for you:  I used an old jar that had contained a strong scented sauce - I dropped a few tablespoons of baking soda in it and put the cover on for a few hours.  When I took the cover off, the stinkiness was completely gone!  :)  Now hop on off to the Incredible Ike and have fun!
Peace.

Day 4 of the 12 Days of Creepmas, Dilly Beans: Traditional Colors & Nice People!

Good morning!  I got the best night's sleep last night - dontcha just love that?  I went to bed around 10 and slept until 7:15.  And I only got up once during the night - bonus.  I woke up feeling rested and refreshed, such a great feeling!  BUT - I forgot to pre-post last night, I'm so sorry (I thought I was late, but it turns out I was just on time - phew!!! LOL).  You should have arrived here from Monique's blog if you're hopping with us - so first up is my creation for the 12 Days of Creepmas at Smeared & Smudged:

Today is a Smeared Ink day, so I used Dance with Death and added some mistletoe - I LOVE this image.  I used Emerald Green and Silver Foil Smooch Spritzes, love that stuff.  DP is from MME.  Ribbon is from SU!  Now hop on over to the Incredible Ike!
 *************************************
We have a new challenge for you today at:

I used Mimi's Witch Costume Framed for this one, I love using Halloween images for other purposes so I turned Mimi into a Christmas Witch.  :)  I paper-pieced almost everything on her - her shirt, mask, hair, hat, and hat band.  I colored her skin with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and her lips with a marker.  The stars are colored in gold glitter.  DP is from Authentique (LOVE this paper) - and then I just added some pearl stickers, rick rack and ribbon tags.

And for this card, I used our "JOY" bubble sentiment and Ruby Sitting, same paper as above.  I love the way it came out, but it was hard coloring Ruby so tiny.
 ****************************
Next up - a couple of months ago I ended up speaking to an artist named Roberto Barrios from Argentina who draws comic book art.  Roberto's art had been stolen and re-sold by those nasty Papelitos people, and I had sent him an e-mail notifying him about what was going on.  He had never heard of digi stamps or images and asked me to explain what they are used for, so I did.  He was so thankful to have been notified, he actually drew me 2 images to use in my crafting - wasn't that sweet?  Here's a card I made with one of them:
I colored her with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and added white Fun Flock to the fuzzy parts of her cap and coat.  I used left-over scraps of DP from MME from last year's batch of Christmas cards (I love being resourceful!).  Isn't she adorable?  Thank you again, Roberto!  :)  I'll be coloring up the other image and creating something to share soon!  Peace.

Cats and Some Odd Girl :)

So the other day Cass and I were sitting on the couch and we hear the Christmas tree rustling.  We look up and this is what we see:

ROFL!  Do you see him?  ;) This kitty is so darn cute, I can't even yell at him.  hee hee   I don't know about the rest of you cat owners, but our cats always seem to have at least 10 names.  This kitty is Oliver - but he is also known as Olive, Ollie, Oliver Osbourne, Ollie Oxen Free, Mr. Moo Moo (don't ask), Baby Love, and Little Cutie Pie, Little Shit - to name just a few.  We have an older cat, too.  His name is Cubby.  His aliases are Cub, Cub-Cub, Cubster, Grandpa, Old Man, Fat Butt (yeah, not nice, but if the shoe fits....)... you get the point.  :)  We love our kitties.  My daughter tells me all the time that she's going to be a crazy cat lady when she grows up.  Ah - the dreams of the young.  hee hee

Today's card is for the:

Some Odd Girl Challenge - Sketch

I used Tiny Tia, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits - added a Santa hat to her.  DP is from MME and sentiment was made with my Dynamo Caption Maker.  Peace.

Delicious Doodles: Pretty Goth

I've been really busy trying to get all my projects done for while I'm on vacation so today I took a little break from "have to" and did a little "want to".  :)  I figured I should post it tonight in case I don't get up early enough in the a.m. before the linky closes.  So this is for the:

I decided to combine the two:

I used Steampunk Sally from Delicious Doodles, colored with Prismacolor markers, Prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits.  I used a black card base then layered a piece of white cardstock that I had spritzed with Silver Foil Smooch Spritz.  Red DP is from MME - I sponged the edges with black ink.  Added the "pretty" and "GOTH" sentiments with my Dynamo Caption Maker.  Peace.

12 Days of Creepmas Day 3 & Wicked Wednesday: Wing It

Hello everyone!  Welcome to Day 3 of the:

You should have arrived here from Monique's blog.  I have the blog roll posted over on my left side bar if you need it.  Today's card uses Zombie Christmas Elf from Dilly Beans, colored with Prismacolor markers, Prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits.  DP is from MME - it's actually my left-over scraps from last year.  Now hop on off to the Incredible Ike's blog and have fun hopping!
