Friday already - this week flew by. Yesterday we got a little bit of (much-needed) rain, it was the perfect day to make a nice beef stew - yum. It'll be even better today, you know how that is. I've got to get my card page on Facebook up and running, I'm hoping to get to that today. So let's get to the cards - first up is my card for the new challenge we have for you at:
I used #164 - Zombie Bunny, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits. I love using my huge stash of Halloween papers for other stuff - I added a little ribbon tag, a flat-backed GlowSkull and I did the sentiment with my Dymo Caption Maker. Come play along with us!
Next creation is a little bookmark/tag I made for the:
I used alcohol inks with Distressing Solution for the background, then stamped the sentiment on it, and then the image (Peace Anya) off the edge of the tag. I added Stickles to her flowers and I added some fun peace sign brads and a ribbon.
I used Halloween Trio from Sweet Pea Stamps, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and paired with some pretty spring colored papers from Authentique. I made the sentiment with some little alpha beads I have in pastel colors, then added some gemstone stickers. Peace.
I flipped the sketch onto its side and used Gothic Girl 02 (can't find her in the store anymore) from Birdie Brown, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits. I spritzed with Purple Glimmer Mist and Silver Foil Smooch Spritz and added some adorable clay skulls from my friend Glo's Etsy shop Creepy Glowbugg Concoctions.
I used Megan's simply ADORABLE newest Dilly Beans digi stamp, #556 - Maisie Mermaid, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and lots of Stickles. This paper is some really old stuff from Stampin' Up! I thought it went well with her. I love those little text stickers, too, and was quite pleased with the little sentiment I came up with!
I used Spider Girl from A Day for Daisies, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits. I added Dazzling Diamonds glitter to her eyelids, and Gunmetal Stickles on her eyelashes. I used some DP with spiders all over it, along with a spider web die cut and a matching spider die cut. I was quite pleased with how this one came out, I love when that happens. :) Have a great day, friends. Peace.
Happy Wednesday! I crafted like a maniac yesterday, it felt sooooo good. I got a bunch of stuff finished and other stuff started - and I think today will be a little more of the same. I get so much more done when I have the house to myself. Time for a new challenge at:
I used a "bug" image (the letter B) from Melonheadz, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits, along with some digi paper and a little caution sign I found online. I dragged the edges of everything through a dark gray ink pad to give it a "run-over" look. LOL Have a great day, everyone! Peace.
Hi there! Busy day today - gotta go do the grocery shopping and lots of errands. I desperately need a new pair of sneakers, so that's on my list today too. And I've totally been craving a big, colorful fruit salad - so I think I'll go to the Produce Market, too. I wish my girl was here to go with me, it's kind of boring doing this stuff alone! LOL About 6 more weeks, and she'll be home. :) I miss her SO DARN MUCH!
I used Tyalisha, she's from the Lia Stampz line at Whimsy Stamps, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and a bit of marker. I misted with some pink Glimmer Mist and attached the image panel with foam dimensional dots. The "Patience is a virtue" sentiment is a sticker, and I cut a strip of the reverse side of the DP and applied it to that. Ribbon with the stitching on it is from my stash. Peace.
Good morning, friends! Well, I have been talking to my sweet daughter every day, and she's decided to come back home. She misses her kitties, my cooking, even (gasp!) us. hee hee I had a feeling it wouldn't last, but I really wanted her to be the one to make the decision. She was cute - she told me that she didn't want to fly alone again, and that she wanted to stay to celebrate her 18th birthday with her friends on April 22. She also has a chance to go to what should have been her prom the next week - May 10th. So I told her that I understand all those things, and that I'd fly back around May 7/8th and visit for a week, get to see her go to the prom, and then we can both fly back home together around the 16th. That made her happy, so I'm now looking for plane tickets. She has not told her friends of her decision yet, so I'm not sharing my joy on Facebook until she does. hee hee But I'm definitely overjoyed. I miss her so much - I've never gone more than 2 weeks without seeing her, and it's been almost a month already! I am anxious to buy those plane tickets, so it will feel more real.
So anyway - today we have a reminder post for you at:
I usedBunny Wummy, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and Cottonball White Fun Flock. DP is some really old scraps I had from SU! Ribbon is also from SU! Button is from my stash. Peace.
I applied DP to a coaster with adhesive, and inked up the edges with black ink. I printed my 469 - Skull Square 4 image onto copy paper and DP, then paper-pieced it. Filled in the white and black areas with Stardust and Metal Stickles, and the light purple background behind the skull with Lavender Stickles. Added a magnet to the back so I can give it as a gift.
I used one of our sweet new images you can find in the store here, colored with White Cottonball Fun Flock and Prisamcolor pencils & mineral spirits. DP is some older stuff from my SU! stash. Added a flower and a ribbon. Peace.
Hello everyone! I didn't get as much crafting done as I wanted to yesterday, but it was because I went out with Jeremy's mom for a few hours and had lunch and went to the art store. So it was an OK distraction for sure. LOL And there is always tomorrow. I did manage to get a card made for the:
I love this image, she's called Owl of Mine, isn't she beautiful? You can find her here. I colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits, SU! markers, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, and a JellyRoll glitter pen. DP is from My Mind's Eye - ribbon is from SU! and sentiment is a sticker from SRM Stickers. Peace.
Good morning friends! I am just posting quickly today to warn you all of another person copying someone's art and trying to pass it off as their own.
The original artist who is an absolute sweetheart is Lori Boyd of By Lori Designs. You can see her digi stamp shop here:
And the copycat is called The Paper Nest Dolls - I hate even directing traffic to her site (so I won't put her little badge here), but just so you can see the blatant copying, check it out here.
The "artist" has been bullying Lori and attempting to persuade Lori's past/present DT members to go design for her instead (and using designers cards without their permission on her site, etc.) ... how do people like this sleep at night? I'm hoping she ends up finding her way here to see this post because I have a couple of questions for her. Like: How do you sleep at night? How do you hold your head up high while telling people what you do for a living? Do you teach your children to copy someone else's work and pass it off as their own? You should be ashamed of yourself.
Please DO NOT SUPPORT The Paper Nest. Do not enter their challenges, do not enter challenges they are sponsoring, do not use their images. Support the ARTISTS - if you like the style of images at The Paper Nest, go see the ORIGINAL artist's site at By Lori Designs. Thank you. Peace.
Hi there - I had a great time visiting with my friend Tim, but he headed back home last night and I'm getting back to crafting today! It's nice to have company, but it's always nice to get back to real life, too. I'm looking forward to doing some crafting today - coloring specifically is very therapeutic to me.
Today I have another Easter card to share for the following challenges:
I used a sweet bunny image from the From the Heart store, colored with Prismacolor markers and paired with some older paper and a ribbon tag from Stampin' Up! that has been in my stash for... oh my gosh, many years now! LOL
I used Easter Ian digi stamp, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and Copics. DP is from MME, and the sentiment was made with stamps from different companies. I kept this one CAS as it was for an Easter card order, and I try not to add a lot of embellies if I know someone is going to be mailing the card. Have a great day. Peace.
This pretty image is a digi stamp from From the Heart (previously Designed2Delight) - colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits. DP is from My Mind's Eye and I added a ribbon tag and some gemstone stickers. Sentiment was made with my Dymo Caption Maker. Peace.
I used Vampire Girl from The Octopode Factory along with a background digi from The Pixel Scrapper. I used purple Glimmer Mist on the background and a black ink pad dragged around it to create a worn look. Made the "bite me" sentiment with my Dymo Caption Maker.
I used Nutmeg & Cinnamon from Dilly Beans, along with a sentiment from TLC Creations. My DP is from Doodlebug Design, and the sweet Glo Skulls are from my buddy Glo's Etsy shop Creepy Glowbugg Creations here (she's on vacation but should be back up soon!).
We also have a new itinerary challenge for you today at:

1. Rabbits/Bunnies 2. Use lots of YELLOW 3. Add a charm(s) 4. 3 or more patterned papers 5. Flowers 6. Sentiment on front of card 7. Hearts 8. Ribbon 9. Use paper piecing (PIECING - not pieRcing) 10. Torn or roughed-up edges
Remember to use at least 3 items, but challenge yourself to use more!
Here's my creation, using #'s 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10:
I used Little Rabbit Costume Girl (newsletter freebie - don't miss out, click here to subscribe!) and I paper-pieced her little hat and pj's. I colored her hair and face with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits. DP is from MME, ribbon is from SU!
Picking up my best friend Tim at the airport today, yay! :) He's staying with us until Tuesday night, so Jeremy and I are looking forward to a long weekend of fun. I may even drink a few hard ciders... yum.
I used Banner Chick from Birdie Brown, paper-pieced almost completely (I colored in the rod that's holding the banner). Papers are from My Mind's Eye. My "favorite things" in this case are a technique, paper-piecing. It's my go-to technique and I have a lot of fun with it. Reminds me of paper dolls when I was little. Have a great day!
I woke up in a big old funk Monday morning. I absolutely hate feeling like that, and I wrote something about it on Facebook. By the end of the day, I was feeling so much better thanks to chats with 2 of my good crafty friends (Alison & Glo - love you girls!), my sister, and my mom. Sometimes there is no real resolution to our problems or the things that are bothering us, but it always helps to know that people care, and that they understand.
So Monday afternoon, I decided to book an appointment for a facial. Last Summer I went to this heavenly spa that I raved so much about, my mother-in-law bought me a gift certificate for my birthday! I had been holding on to it for when I "needed" it, and decided that this was the time. It's called Bliss Organic Day Spa and it's in Sebastopol, CA. You can find their website here. So I booked a 90-minute anti-aging facial for Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. and it was just absolutely divine. When I was done, I decided to take the rest of the day off from cleaning, crafting, and anything else that I normally feel "has to" be done. I sat out in the sun for an hour and then I read for a little while - it was exactly what I needed. Of course, by the late afternoon I was starting to make lists in my head of everything that needs to be done - hee hee.
I used "We're All Mad Here Chessie" from our sponsor at WW, Rick St. Dennis, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits. I added some Stardust Stickles to his teeth and eyes. For the background, I used a white piece of cardboard and spritzed it with Purple Glimmer Mist and Silver Foil Smooch Spritz, then used a clock stencil on the corner. I rubbed the edges in Embossing Ink and melted black embossing powder on them. I also stamped some stars and used gold embossing powder on them.
Hey all - my best friend Tim comes to visit in 2 days, I'm so looking forward to it! Then I should be buying my plane tickets for another visit home in May, time just flies! LOL I'm posting today with my card for the:
My daughter Cass is almost 18 - but she's still a little kid at heart. Right before she left for Massachusetts a few weeks ago, she looked at me all seriously and said, "You are still going to send me an Easter basket, right?" LOL So of course, I'm assembling a little basket for my almost-grown-up baby girl. I made this card for her to go along with it and it's also for the:
I made a page for my art journal using a quote from the movie and a cool heart with wings image from Smeared Ink. I used Stickles to color it all in (used a red marker on the heart first), I also used some Star Dust Stickles to highlight Edward's name in the quote.
My image is from Digi Stamp Boutique'sCute Fairy Collection, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and paper-pieced with paper from SU! Flower & germstone stickers are from my stash. Button is from SU! Sentiment is a freebie that you can find here.
I used an image from the From the Heart store (previously Designed2Delight), printed on DP and colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and outlined with Dazzling Diamonds glitter. DP is from MME, ribbon is from SU! and buttons are from my stash. Peace.
I used an image from our sponsor, Sassy Studio, called Pin Up Cat, I paper-pieced her outfit and colored the rest of her with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits. Sentiment is from TLC Creations. DP is from Authentique. I am also entering this into the:
We do require the use of Just Some Lines images, and we provide a freebie for you during each challenge. My card uses this week's freebie, Petit Pot Getting In, paper-pieced with DP from Stampin' Up! I am also entering this into the following challenges:
