Cancer/Crab Birthday and Cupcake Inspirations Sponsored by Jellypark

Good morning, friends!  Yup, it's still hot.  They just updated on the news and mentioned that we'd get a break from the heat tomorrow - it'll "only" be 101 instead of the  105-107 it's been the last couple days and is supposed to be on Tuesday & Wednesday, as well.  Holy crap, that's hot.

Well, it's the season of the crab - the zodiac sign, that is.  Otherwise known as Cancer, this sign encompasses those born between June 22 and July 22.  I have quite a few friends and family members who fall under this sign, including my mom, so this card will definitely be put to use.  I made this for the:

I used a beautiful fun digi background stamp from Lily Pink Scraps (I had to buy all of the zodiac signs when I saw she had them, I just love them!).  I found the little Cancer sign/crab image online at Marcels Kid Crafts (free printable zodiac signs).  I added a piece of red webbing that my awesome buddy Glo sent me and outlined the crab's frame with some Platinum Stickles.

Next up is a card I made for the:

Cupcake Inspirations is being sponsored by Jellypark, and our DT was asked to play along with them this month.  I used 032: Pirate Digi Stamp (colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits) and 501: Pirate Printable Party Circles (pre-colored, 2" circles).  The background is digi paper from Tiddly Inks that I spritzed with Silver Foil & Black Velvet Smooch Spritzes.  I added a stitched ribbon and a skeleton key charm.  Peace.

Heat Wave

Holy heatwave.  We're looking at 100+ weather for today and the next 3 days after that.  So much for all that unexpected rain we got last week, we are right back into Summer now for sure!  I'm thinking a trip to the beach is in order very soon!

So today I have 4 things to share with you all (I've been a busy girl!).  First is a cute 4th of July card that I made for the following challenges:

Sunday Sketch & Stamp (sketch below)

I used July 4 Day from Whimsie Doodles, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits with Stickles added to her shoes (red) and sparklers (gold).  DP is from My Mind's Eye.  I added some star brads to the upper left corner and some gold pearl stickers to the upper right corner - I love working with Whimsie Doodles images and I rarely get a chance to play with them, so I had fun with this one.

My next card is for the:

I used "Blushing Violet Fairy" by Elaine Cox (digi available at Sweet Pea Stamps), colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  Papers are from MME, then I went through my stash of ribbon snippets & buttons and added a bunch of them as embellishments.  This card is sized 5.5 x 3.25 inches - I like to make cards that are 5.25 inches squared, and this small piece of cardstock is what is left over after I make those cards.  So I keep them in a big pile and once in a while I make a few cards with them using my scrap pieces of DP, etc.  They are the perfect size to fit into those small white "all purpose" envelopes you can buy super cheap at any large retailer, drugstore, or office supply store.  That's just my little helpful hint for the day.  :)
 .......................................................
Because it's Saturday, we have a reminder post for you at:

We're being sponsored by 2CuteInk and I used the adorable I Cherryish You image, printed on DP and colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits with a spot of Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  DP is from My Mind's Eye, the little "LOVE" embellishment was cut from the paper and attached so that it would hang off the edge of the ATC.

And last for today, we have a new challenge for you (our last for the Summer) at:

I am also entering this into the following challenges:

(We'll be taking a short break at Just Some Lines after this 2-week challenge for the Summer, we'll be having a DT call next month and starting back up with monthly challenges in September.)  For today's card, I used the gorgeous Emo Bride image, paper-pieced and colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  I used papers from MME and added a ribbon (Stampin' Up!), some pink gemstone stickers, and a pretty vintage-looking key charm.  Have a great weekend everyone!  Peace.

Patriotic Jenn & Swimming Belle

Happy Friday!  It's gonna be a hot one today, so I already have the air on and the shades drawn.  I don't expect to do much cooking inside over the next few days, either, so I'll just enjoy the heatwave and the little break!  Today I have some work around the house to do, I'm not a big fan of house-keeping and cleaning and all that crap but it just has to be done once in a while.  LOL  I like doing it on Fridays, though, because then I don't feel guilty enjoying my weekend!

We have a fun new challenge for you today at:

I used 566- Jenn's Heart Framed, a stamp that Megan named for me.  :)  I thought that was pretty sweet, and I just couldn't wait to play with her.  I colored her with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and added Stickles in several colors.  I added the "usa" stickers from my sticker stash, some ribbon from SU! and some gemstone stickers.  Paper is digi paper that I picked up free from Folded Paper & Printed Pixels.

Next up - we have a new challenge for you at:

I am also entering this into the following challenges:

MilkCoffee: Summer Sun
 Simon Says Stamp: Anything Goes

I used 159 - Beach Hut Swimming Belle, I printed the image twice so I could paper-piece the hut with that cool beachy woodgrain paper (from MME), then I colored Belle with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  I used elements from the paper to create little embellishments and attached them with foam dimensional dots.  Tied a ribbon around it to finish it off.  Looks like she's ready for a busy day at the beach!  I might be visiting her at some point this weekend if it really gets to be over 100 degrees, as they say it might!  Have a great weekend, everyone - stay cool! Peace.

A Birthday Wish & Imagination

Oh yay - the sun is out, the sun is out!  It's amazing how different I feel when the sun is not shining.  My favorite part about moving to California is the sunshine - it truly feels good for my mind, body, and soul.  It just rained for 3.5 days, which was the most rain I've seen since moving here over a year ago!  So I was very happy to wake up to sunshine today!  :)

My first card is for the following challenges:

This was a birthday card I made on commission for a friend's daughter whose first name starts with the letter "M".  The image is from Saturated Canary, and I colored her with ajl, sentiment is from Desert Diva (freebie).  Papers are from My Mind's Eye.  :)  "M" sticker and gemstone brads are from my stash.

And my next card is for the following challenges:

All That Stickles: Firefly
Some Odd Girl (sketch below)

I printed Mad Hatter Kody rather large and then cropped out his body, colored him with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits, along with Stickles in Firefly and Orange Peel.  My papers are from doodlebug design inc. and the tape & text sticker are both from the Tim Holtz idea-ology line.  Peace.

ADFD: Add Some Nature

Scroll down to the post below this one or click here if you're here for the Bombshell hop!
********************************
Oops - thought I had until tomorrow to post this, but it looks like the linky closes tonight so I'm posting this quickly for the:

I am also entering this into the following challenges:

I used Forest Friends from A Day for Daisies, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  I found this little tiny pine cone in my driveway and knew it was the perfect embellishment (my bit added from nature), and I tied it on with some floss type stuff.  Papers are from Stampin' Up! Peace.

Glittery Goodness

Happy Bombshell Stamps Texture & Layers Blog Hop day!  You should have arrived here from Kapree's blog - if you need to start at the beginning, click here.  Here is the blog roll list, for your convenience:

And here is my creation:

I am also entering this card into the following challenges:

Punk You Girl: Anything Goes (dark/edgy/creepy)

I used Bombshell stamps from the Tattoo Background and Alter Sugar Skull sets.  I stamped and embossed the images to give them texture - I also used a spider web embossing folder on the orange background paper for more texture (all papers & word stickers from Authentique), then sponged some black ink over it.  The spider was embossed in a glossy black, the sugar skull alter set was embossed with Tim Holtz Distress Powder in Walnut Stain, then colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits, Prismacolor markers, and Stickles.  Lots of Stickles.  I added a ribbon and some pearl stickers to finish it off.  The funny thing about this card is that it is completely different from what I set out to create - but I absolutely love the way it turned out.  Funny how art can be like that - sometimes I create exactly what I envisioned and yet I'm not happy with it, and then there's times like this... I love art. :)
Next up on the hop is Sharon - have fun hopping!
**********************************************
Next up - we have a new challenge for you today at:

I am also entering this ATC into the following challenges:

Our sponsor is 2CuteInk, and I used the adorable Cake My Love digi stamp, colored with Copics and glitter.  Circle punches & ribbon tag are from Stampin' Up!  DP is from My Mind's Eye and I added a few little teal colored pearl stickers.  Sentiment is from SRM Stickers.   Peace.

Summertime Sun

Good morning friends!  OK so we're on day 3 of rainy/cloudy weather here today, and I've had enough.  We hardly ever get rain, so we needed it - but helloooooo, it's SUMMER!  My kitty is beside himself, he wants to go out so badly but once he sets foot outside he turns right back around and comes in.  I feel you, Oliver.  LOL

The one positive thing that bad weather is good for is crafting!  Today's card is for the following challenges:

Punk You Girl: Anything Goes (with edgy/creepy theme)

I used the Steampunk Sun image from The Octopode Factory, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and some Stickles.  I printed out the sentiment in my word processing program and cut each word out after outlining it.  DP is some Halloween papers I had in my stash, and the little timepiece charm is made from shrink plastic. Peace.

Tiddly Inks Stuff

Hello everyone - hope your Monday is off to a good start.  I had so much fun crafting yesterday, I decided to print out and color some Tiddly Inks images and I managed to make 2 cards for a few challenges.  This first one is my favorite, I absolutely love how it came out!  This one is for the:
Cards Galore (sketch below)

I just had to purchase this gorgeous image, Salty Kisses, the minute I saw her.  The paper I printed her on has texture, and I wasn't sure how I felt about it when I started coloring with my pencils.  But the more I blended with mineral spirits, the more I liked the way it looked.  I added glitter to the starfish and the crabs (I know crabs aren't glittery, but they were jealous that the starfish got to sparkle, so.... glittery crabs it is), and then added a little starfish charm (I wish you could see it better, it kind of blends in with the dark paper).  I didn't want to add too many embellishments to this one, as the image is just so pretty I wanted it to remain the focal point.

This next card is for the:

Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Summer Fruits
A Little Bit Crafty: Something Sweet
Kreativeinkauf Challenges: Strawberries

I used Minnie's Berry and Berry Sentiment, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  Paper is a digi paper I had in my bag of scraps, along with solid colored cardstocks from Stampin' Up!  I added Crystal Effects to her glasses and Lime Green Stickles to the berry top.  Peace.

You Rock

Happy Sunday!  We've got a cloudy, kinda-crappy day here today so I've been crafting all day.  Got a lot done, but forgot to publish my blog post this morning so here I am.  Today's card is for this month's:

I am also entering this into the following challenges:

I printed my Rockin' Doggie image onto some white cardstock that I had spritzed with Silver Foil & Jet Black Smooch Spritzes, then colored  him with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and some Prismacolor markers.  I inked the edges and attached him "crooked" so that the edges come off the card.  I attached the sentiment separately, layered onto a piece of black cardstock, and added a guitar charm. Peace.

Peace & Chickens

hee hee   That's an interesting blog post title, no?  ;)  It's going to be 90 degrees or hotter here today, but then we are supposed to get some rain over the next couple of days, which is rare for this time of year.  I'm secretly looking forward to it, though, because I know I'll get a lot of crafting done if I'm stuck in the house.  LOL

Today we have a reminder post for you at:

I am also entering this into the:

I used this sweet digi stamp from Skhedr (which is apparently also Shery K Designs, I did not realize that!) called Peace on Earth, completely paper-pieced and torn out. I then sponged the edges with ink, and used scraps of coordinating DP for the ATC background, then sponged some more brown ink around the edges of that.  I added a little gold peace sign brad and a piece of brown rick rack from my stash to finish it off.

Next up - we also have a reminder post for you at:

I am also entering this into the:

I used the adorable chickens that we gave away as a freebie a couple of weeks ago (and which you can now find in the shop in a cute set here).  I printed them rather large, then paper-pieced them and the flowers.  I used coordinating papers for the background - that middle piece reminded me of chicken wire, so that was what made me choose this particular paper pad from MME.  I added a ribbon and some gold pearl stickers to complete it.  Peace.

I am also entering this into the following challenges:

New Tattoo & Crafty Sentiments: Fun in the Sun

Sooo - here it is!  I took Cass to get her first tattoo yesterday, we had decided quite a while back that we wanted to each get our zodiac sign tattooed on our foot.  I am a Leo, she's a Taurus.  She went with a pretty spot of color in her stars, I kept mine black:

Here's mine from another angle:

 And hers:

We had fun and I just love how they came out!  This was my 6th tattoo and I have to say this one hurt the most, but Cass handled it like a trooper.  I was so proud - sniff sniff.  :)
........................................................
I have a card today for the following challenges:

Crafty Sentiments are very generously offering a freebie for us if we want to play along, and I was happy to have an excuse to create with this cutie.  I paper-pieced her clothes, shoes & socks, ice cream & cherry, and her little hair barrettes.  The rest is colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  Paper is from MME, ribbon tags are from SU!  Buttons, flower (center is just a silver brad covered in red Stickles), and sentiment are from my stash.  Peace.

Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge: Symbols of Peace

Good morning!  Cass and I are off today to get our zodiac signs tattooed on our feet!  It's her first tattoo, my gift to her for her 18th birthday, and she's super excited.  She's a Taurus and I'm a Leo - I'm sure I'll share some pics tomorrow!

Today we have a new challenge for you at:

We're being sponsored by Digi Darla, I simply printed the peace sign and the word "Peace" onto some tie-dye paper (free from AJ's Digi Shoppe), which I also used for the background, and then covered the peace sign in glitter.  Pretty simple, but I like the way it came out.  Have a great day!  Peace.  :)

All That Scraps: Glitter & Simon Says Stamp: Transport

Hello - I knew what I wanted to do for this challenge from the minute it posted, yet it's been open for almost 2 weeks now and I'm finally hear squeezing it in 2 hours before it closes.  LOL   Better late than never, though, right?  So this is for the:

I just had to buy these adorable images when I saw them, aren't they sweet?  I paper pieced them and then added glitter to the sentiment, the unicorn's hooves and horn, the knight's clothing and shield, and the princess's flowing ribbon from her pretty hat and her little pony tail baubles.  :)  Oh - and the feather on the knight is covered in a sparkly Fun Flock.  Paper is from MME, and sentiment is from Pink Cat Studio.  I also added some little diamond gemstone stickers to add a bit more sparkle/glitter.  Peace.

One Last Father's Day Card

Happy Father's Day!  I made a yummy breakfast this morning of cheesy scrambled eggs with fried onions, bacon, and homefries - it was delicious.  Then we threw baby back ribs in the oven with a dry rub to slow-cook all day and it already smells sooooo good in my house.  Vegetarian baked beans and rice pilaf and salad will make the perfect meal, can't wait!  I had an order for a few Father's Day cards this year, so here's another one that I made.  I'm entering this one into the following challenges:

I used one of the sweet freebies from Dearie Dolls, paper-pieced (clothes, cap, and shoes) and colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  DP is from Authentique, buttons are circle punches are from SU!  Circle sentiment is from Netty's Cards: Freebies. My TIP is this:  Print your image once on a piece of scrap paper and again on your good quality paper that you want to use on your finished project.  Color the parts of your "good" image that you are not paper-piecing.  Take small pieces of scrap designer papers and use adhesive lightly to attach them to the scrap paper however you want them to print out.  I can usually manage to get most of my pieces done by printing them on the scrap paper twice.  Then carefully cut out each piece of clothing (or whatever you are paper-piecing) and apply with adhesive to your "good" image.  Peace.

More Father's Day!

Oh what a crappy way to wake up this morning - bad dreams.  I hate bad dreams - you know the kind that make you feel like crying your eyes out?  Not the scary nightmare kind, but the emotionally exhausting kind... I hate that.  But I've had my coffee and I think I've shaken it off - so let's get to the good stuff.  ;)

I have another Father's Day card today that I'd like to enter into a few appropriate challenges, and here they are:

This card is for my husband - we recently got chickens and we've all been teasing my husband calling him "Farmer Jeremy".  hee hee  So I had to purchase this adorable digi stamp (it comes in a set of 6 stamps including 4 farmers, one hen-house/coop, and a border of chickens for only $1.00!!!) from Digi Web Studio called Chicken Farmer.  The barn was from another set I already had from Digi Web Studio (also $1.00!) called Farm Animals 1.  I colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and a black fine-tip marker.  The feather (and that polka dot ribbon) has been in my stash (my hoarded supply) forever!  I knew some day the perfect project would come along and just scream for that feather!  LOL  The sentiment is from Jellypark - I used circle punches (1 3/8 and 1 3/4 inches) from Stampin' Up!  I added the wooden alpha beads as a little last-minute embellishment, as I hate to leave corners "empty".  hee hee  That pretty red and white gingham paper was a digi paper freebie that I found at MeinLila Park (digital freebies).  Oh - and the barn was a free coloring page I found online here.  Have a great day, my friends - I've got just a couple of projects to complete today and I plan to lay out in the sun with Cass for a bit.  We picked up some yummy-looking pastrami (local) yesterday, so we're going to keep it simple and have sandwiches for dinner tonight.  I made Jeremy's secret-recipe cole slaw to go along with it - sooooo good (if you don't like cole slaw, you have to try mine before you give up forever!).  Peace.

Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge: Birds, Nests, and Eggs

Hello all - the sun is back out and things are back to normal (well, weather-wise at least - hee hee)!  Cass picked up a job application yesterday while we were out - please keep her in your thoughts, she really needs to get a job so she can start meeting people and making some friends.  I love spending time with her, and we get along so great, but I know she misses having friends her own age.  It makes her want to go back East more often, and I think that would change if she just had a few friends here.  So let's just hope it happens soon!

We have a new challenge for you today at:

Our sponsor is Jellypark - I'm on their DT and Claire has been super generous about sponsoring us!  One random winner will receive 5 images of their choice to the Jellypark store.  Come play along for your chance to win!  Peace.

Father's Day Challenges

Good morning!  We are having some weird weather this week - my poor cell phone has no service at all, so every time my sister or my parents try to call me, we get disconnected.  Kinda sucks when you're 3000 miles away and that's your only form of communication!  Yesterday I got a call from my dad's best friend, he was in the area with his girlfriend and we met them for dinner last night.  They are driving a motorcycle all over the country - it was fun listening to their stories and it was so nice to see familiar faces.  It really gets lonely sometimes being so far away from the people and places you've known your entire life.  I love it here, but I do get homesick every now and then.  So it was nice to spend an evening with someone from "back home."  :)

Today I have a Father's Day card that I'd like to enter into the following challenges:

This card is for Jeremy's dad - I used an image that was previously offered as a freebie from KennyK, the Golfer, and colored him with Prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits.  The DP is from Authentique, I added a button and a sentiment with my Dymo Caption Maker.  Peace.

Movie Magic Monthly: Romeo & Juliet vs. Moulin Rouge and In the Pink: Anything Goes with PINK

Wow - I woke up in the middle of the night to the most incredible thunder and lightning storm!  Around 1:00 a.m. our power went out briefly, and when it came back on the smoke alarms all went off for a few seconds.  I jumped out of bed and met my kids in the living room - my daughter was holding her kitty and he was just shaking, the poor thing!  We've lived here for over a year now, and this was the first storm we've seen/heard.  Powerful, scary, yet beautiful.  This morning it's foggy and chilly, and I think I'll catch up on some house-cleaning and make Father's Day cards for Jeremy & for his dad.  :) And as I just typed that, I heard a pretty loud rumble in the distance.  Maybe I should unplug this computer for a bit!

Today we have a new challenge for you at:

So the idea at our movie challenge is to take 2 movies and pair them up against each other.  Throughout the month, the DT will post projects based on the 2 movies with the hopes of inspiring you all to play along!  This month, I went with Romeo & Juliet, using a past freebie image from Sassy Studio which I merged with a Romeo & Juliet quote that I found online.  I created a bookmark, I used some DP from My Mind's Eye, some gemstone stickers, and I tied a ribbon through it with a heart charm threaded through the ribbon.  I am also linking this up with the:

Hope you all have a great day/week!  Peace.

Top Tip Tuesday: Numbers & Polkadoodles: B-day with Scraps

Hi there - talk about what a difference a day can make, yesterday it was over 100 degrees and today we were lucky if it went over 70!  LOL  I spent yesterday at my craft table, this is a card I made for my friend to give her son, who is turning 21.  I'm entering it into the:

I printed the numbers onto a piece of white cardstock and then onto DP, and paper-pieced them.  All DP, buttons, and brads are from Stampin' Up!  My "tip" is to use your scraps as accent pieces - I printed the "Happy Birthday" sentiments onto 2 pieces of scrap (I use adhesive to attach the scrap to a piece of full size paper so it doesn't get stuck in the printer) and then attached one as a border/strip and used a circle punch for the other.
Peace.

WW & JSL Reminders

Hi everyone - dinner yesterday was awesome, the prime rib came out perfectly and the house stayed nice and cool.  Ready for round 2 today - we expect it to be over 100 here.  Perfect day for catching up on my craft projects, dontcha think?  :)  We have a reminder post for you today at:

We also have a reminder post for you at:

I am also entering this into the:

I used the freebie we are currently offering for this challenge, the sweet chickens.  I found this henhouse coloring page online and printed it onto some wood-grain patterned paper, then attached the chickens to the front of it and used some coordinating DP for the background.  I added a sentiment from Designed2Delight/From the Heart, again printed onto that same DP.  I kept the embellishments simple, just adding a button.  Come play along with us!  Have a great weekend!  Peace.
